From complimentary baby purées to branded One&Only bikes, One&Only Le Saint Géran is a rare example of a hotel that truly understands what it means to travel well with young children.
We visited with our 10-month-old and found it to be one of the most thoughtfully set up properties for families — without compromising on the overall experience.
Set on one of Mauritius’ most beautiful stretches of coastline, One&Only Le Saint Géran offers a rare balance of refined luxury and genuine family consideration.
While many high-end resorts accommodate children, few are designed with them so thoughtfully in mind. Here, the experience feels seamless — allowing you to travel with young children without compromising on the overall standard or sense of ease.
The Journey

A 12-hour flight may not feel like the obvious choice with a baby, but it is entirely manageable with the right setup.
We opted to fly business class with Air Mauritius, opting for the middle seat configuration which allows the divider to be lowered. This effectively creates a shared space, giving enough room for both rest and play once the seats are fully reclined.
The transfer to the hotel is an hour, which is slightly longer than some of the other resorts. However, the resort does also benefit from its own helicopter pad which Air Mauritius operates a transfer for around £1,500 allowing you to get there within 15 minutes with your luggage transferred complimentary by car.

Arrival & In-Room Details

Ahead of our stay, the team reached out with a comprehensive list of baby amenities. This included everything from bottle sterilisers and mosquito nets to high chairs and cots, as well as an age-appropriate car seat for the airport transfer — something that is often overlooked elsewhere.
On arrival, everything had been set up exactly as requested, with a clear attention to detail. There were also a few thoughtful touches, including a small selection of One&Only items for our little one to keep.
Food

During the weaning stage, food becomes one of the most important considerations — and this is where the hotel truly excels.
Meals for children up to three years old are complimentary and can be served either in-room or across the restaurants. Everything is freshly prepared, with a wide selection of vegetables, fruits and proteins available. Baby purees can also be made fresh to order, with the ability to select the ingredients and the desired consistency.
Dining in the restaurants also felt easy and well managed. High chairs (including Stokke Tripp Trapp), children’s cutlery and attentive service meant meals could be enjoyed without disruption.

Meals can be pre-ordered earlier in the day, so they are ready on arrival at the restaurant— particularly helpful for early evenings.
Activities & Environment
The dedicated playroom for tots 0-3 years
For children under three, activities are naturally more limited, but the setting itself works well.
The family pool at La Pointe is the most suitable, with cabanas offering direct access to the water and space to move between pool and shade. That said, shaded areas and buggy space can be slightly limited.
The beach is particularly well suited to young children — flat, calm and easy to navigate, with clear visibility along the shoreline.
For older children, the hotel offers two separate kids’ clubs with a structured programme of daily activities.
Room Recommendation
The view and access directly from our beachfront suite
We would strongly recommend one of the beachfront suites.
Their central position makes it easy to move between the main areas of the hotel, and they offer direct access to the beach, along with a private cabana — ideal for short, flexible periods outside with a baby.
Interconnecting options also make these a practical choice for families travelling with additional support or with family. For small families seeking more privacy, the resort does also offer their beachfront property ‘Villa One’, which is a two bedroom standalone villa still within the resort.

For families travelling with young children, the One&Only Le Saint Geran is one of the few hotels that genuinely allows you to maintain the same standard of travel. Nothing feels like an afterthought - from the practical in-room details to the way everything flowed so naturally around the little ones.
For parents who want to travel well, without it feeling complicated or out of place, this is a hotel that truly delivers.
