Luxury Holidays to Mauritius
Come for the beach. Stay for everything else.
Yes, there are beautiful beaches and some exceptional luxury hotels. But venture beyond your sun bed and you’ll find mountains, waterfalls, tiny villages, rum distilleries, markets, golf courses and a food culture shaped by influences from Africa, India, China and Europe.
At Willow & Bird, we create luxury Mauritius holidays around how you actually want to experience the island.
Perhaps that’s ten gloriously uneventful days beside the Indian Ocean.
Perhaps it’s mornings exploring and afternoons by the pool.
Or perhaps Mauritius is the barefoot ending to a much bigger African adventure.
Because choosing Mauritius is the easy part.
Choosing your Mauritius is where we come in.
North, south, east or west?
The north gives you restaurants, life and easy access to places beyond the resort.
The east is home to some of Mauritius’s most celebrated luxury hotels and beautiful stretches of coastline.
The west is known for sunsets and easy access to some of the island’s dramatic landscapes.
And the south feels wilder — mountains, nature reserves and a different side of Mauritius entirely.
We don’t choose your hotel and then check where it is. We choose the part of Mauritius that works for your holiday first.
In Mauritius, it matters.
A beautiful hotel isn’t enough
Which coast works best for the time of year we’re travelling?
Is the beach somewhere we’ll actually want to swim, or simply beautiful to look at?
Would we choose this hotel if we were travelling with our own family?
Is the meal plan worth it — or will we want to eat beyond the resort?
Would we spend the extra on the room, or save it for something we’ll remember more?
And after ten nights, will we feel like we’ve actually experienced Mauritius — not just the hotel?
“I don’t just ask whether I love the hotel. I ask whether it’s the right way to experience the island.”

Frequently asked Mauritius holiday questions
-
Mauritius can work throughout much of the year, but conditions vary by season and coast. Rather than treating the whole island as having one weather forecast, we’ll consider when you’re travelling and which part of Mauritius will suit you best.
-
Very. Mauritius is one of our favourite luxury family holiday destinations, particularly because of its excellent resorts, children’s facilities and the variety of experiences available beyond the beach.
-
Absolutely. The key is choosing the right hotel. We can look towards smaller adults-only properties and romantic hideaways or create a Mauritius honeymoon as the beach finale after South Africa or safari.
-
Yes. South Africa and Mauritius is a particularly natural combination, giving you city, wine country or safari followed by time beside the Indian Ocean. We can arrange the journey as one tailor-made itinerary.
-
We go beyond choosing the hotel.
We can advise on which coast, room category and meal plan we’d choose, review restaurant menus, suggest experiences and consider everything from transfers to the best way to combine Mauritius with another destination.
We can also share hotel privileges and insider options, including VIP airport and private-terminal experiences where available.
Is One&Only Le Saint Géran as good for little travellers as it is for grown-ups? We experienced it first-hand with our own Little Explorer, testing everything from the journey and family-friendly rooms to the kids’ club, food and those small details that really matter when travelling with children.
